FAQ's About Laser Hair Reduction

Q-1: What does the procedure comprise of?

Your treatment begins with application of local anaesthetic cream on the skin. This is followed by withdrawal of your blood which is used to make PRP solution. It requires 30-45 minutes for the anaesthetic cream to act. In case of scalp PRP anaesthetic cream is not required. PRP is then injected on the skin/scalp. This procedure is generally combined with micro needling procedure performed by derma pen but can be done without it too. Various skin /hair serums can also be used during the procedure depending on your concern.

Q-2: How does PRP therapy work?

Beneath the skin surface there is a network of Collagen and elastin fibres. These are structural proteins which provide elasticity and firmness to the skin. With aging or conditions like acne this network loosens/is disrupted. During PRP therapy the needle prick and micro needling triggers the healing mechanism of our skin and scalp which leads to repair of collagen and elastin network. PRP provides the skin and with nutrients and healing factors required for its rejuvenation. It reflects as tightening of open pores, repair of the scars and stretch marks, decrease in appearance of dark spots, smoothening fine lines and wrinkles and giving skin a firmer look. When scalp is treated with PRP therapy, it increases the blood flow and nutrient supply to the hair follicle and activates the dormant follicles to produce new hair. This results in decreasing the hair-fall and increasing the hair density.

Q-3: What are the uses of PRP therapy?

Following are the conditions for which PRP-therapy can be used:

Q-4: Is the process painful?

As local anaesthetic cream is applied on the skin, you will not feel any pain. A mild picking sensation may be felt on both skin and scalp during the procedure. Post procedure a bit of redness and swelling may be observed. You may feel heaviness or mild headache after your scalp has been treated with PRP. All these effects are self-limiting and resolve within 24-48 hours.

Q-5: Are the results immediate?

PRP is a collagen induction therapy. Body takes approximately 21 days to form new collagen, thus the results are not immediate but are certainly long lasting.

Q-6: Are there any risks associated with PRP therapy?

PRP therapy uses your own blood, so it’s completely natural, thus possibility of side effects is minimal.
